Orthodontics for the best smile https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/ortodoncia-para-la-mejor-sonrisa/ https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/ortodoncia-para-la-mejor-sonrisa/#respond Fri, 04 May 2018 20:26:56 +0000 http://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/web2/?p=1878

One of the most important aspects of facial beauty is the correct alignment of the teeth. Thus, dentistry has within its specialties a very valuable one, called orthodontics, which studies dental malpositions, their diagnosis and treatment.

Thanks to the development of this specialty is that you can make substantial changes in the position, inclination and aesthetic harmony of the teeth and other important benefits, among which we have the following:

Better Oral Hygiene, The alignment and correct position of the teeth, leads to a more effective hygiene, for the simple reason that it will be less complicated to remove with the floss, the food remains, so that the teeth will be cleaner and more healthy

Less possibility of developing cavities and gingival diseases, By removing more and more food waste, they will have less time to remain in the mouth and therefore there will be less tooth decay and calculus (tartar) in formation.

Harmonious and pleasant smile, The correct alignment of the dentition will provide beauty, functionality and personal satisfaction at the moment of smiling.

Better periodontal support, An adequate dental position gives the tooth and the whole masticatory apparatus health in all senses, which will have a major importance in advanced ages.

Currently, there is technology that provides more discreet and masked devices than before. Now the brackets are the same tooth color, the pressure that is made with the devices is very minimal and the treatment is carried out both in children and adults.

Smile well, the ORTHODONTICS can be that big change…

Dental Caries https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/la-caries-dental/ https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/la-caries-dental/#respond Fri, 04 May 2018 20:21:11 +0000 http://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/web2/?p=1875

A disease almost common to all of us who possess teeth, is dental caries, a dental entity that manifests itself in approximately 98% of the Peruvian population, which initially forms cavities in the tooth enamel (white or crown region), which if it is not treated later, it advances unfailingly towards deeper regions, that is the tissue of the dentin and later the pulp, which, in turn, because they have nerve endings, make us feel the pain and the temperature changes with great acuity.

Origin of Dental Caries

Individual diet: The food intake of a subject provides various nutrients for its normal development, among which we have carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins and minerals. It has been proven that the intake of refined carbohydrates (sugars, sweets, etc.) increases the possibility that the individual suffers from dental caries.

Bacteria: Various microorganisms have been found in the normal oral flora of the individual, among which we have Lactobacillus Acidophillus, a microorganism found in approximately 4% of non-carious dental surfaces and in 20% of carious lesions, as well as Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus mitis and salivaris, among others. The role of microorganisms is fundamental in the origin of caries.

Oral Hygiene: A regular or deficient hygiene definitely leads to the appearance of cavities. When there is food intake and waste is not removed from the surface of the teeth with brushing and flossing, a structure called bacterial plaque will inevitably form, which is nothing more than a film containing food debris, dead cells, bacteria and microorganisms among others.

Poor position of the teeth: A wrong dental position in the maxilla can lead to the formation of carious cavities simply because the patient can not exercise an effective hygienic action. Rotations, inclinations or incorrect dental positions allow food (especially fibrous) to be retained between the interdental spaces. As a result, the teeth suffer from the action of caries more easily. Dentistry has a quite effective solution for this problem and that is what a specialty deals with: Orthodontics, which diagnoses and treats the problem of bad dental positions, a specialty that is carried out mostly in children and young patients, although it is also performed in adults, not only to improve the dental position but also to give the patient a pleasant aesthetic.

Dynamics of Dental Caries

The individual normally has in the oral cavity a set of microorganisms that maintain the balance between health and disease. These microorganisms are part of the defense and integrity of the organs of the oral cavity. This set of microorganisms and / or bacteria is called oral flora. This oral flora can be altered in certain cases, as for example the indiscriminate use of antibiotics, which can “sweep” with microorganisms that are in the line of defense, to have disequilibrium can be manifested diseases in soft or hard tissues (teeth) . Also, this balance is generally altered when the individual ingests their food, especially carbohydrates in refined form, ie chocolates, cookies, sweets, etc., which are removed after meals produce acids (produced by the decomposition of food and bacteria), which are harmful to tooth enamel when oral hygiene is regular or deficient. These acids are formed very easily from the two hours after having ingested foods rich in carbohydrates and also with the help of bacterial elements present on healthy dental surfaces. If we add to this a weak dental structure, which by nature is more permeable than normal, we can expect the teeth to suffer from cavities. But if the individual has due care in oral hygiene (using the brush and floss) properly, the risk of contracting this disease will be significantly reduced, because on the one hand the food (culture medium) will be removed with the oral hygiene and the absence of food residues in decomposition, the production of acid will decrease drastically, and also less chance of healthy tooth enamel being affected.

The problem of dental caries can be controlled by the subject quite effectively. The individual can not be prohibited from eating, but it is possible to provide useful advice for their best dental care:
1. Try not to eat foods rich in refined carbohydrates, that is, sweets, cakes, candies, cookies, etc. If so, carry out oral hygiene procedures as soon as possible after ingestion.
2. Instill and instruct children about the importance and care of their teeth. Remember that they learn many things by imitating the tutors or parents.
3. Make proper use of the denture. Do not open bottles with them or grind hard foods (sweets, tennis court, etc.) because they can fracture the integrity of the tooth enamel, opening a possibility for the appearance of decay.
4. Make periodic visits to the dental office. Doing so provides us with the necessary information about the state of our teeth. A visit is recommended every six months, although you do not feel any discomfort.

With this information we can be sure that our teeth will be in good condition and will be useful for a long time without the need to use prostheses or adjuvants for chewing.

Prostheses or Implants https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/protesis-o-implantes/ https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/protesis-o-implantes/#respond Fri, 04 May 2018 20:15:48 +0000 http://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/web2/?p=1871

People who have lost some teeth or all of them in some cases, especially those who have had periodontal problems or those belonging to the elderly group, often ask themselves what would be the best way to solve the problem of oral rehabilitation. There is the possibility of solution through the dental prosthesis or the combination of implants plus dental prosthesis.

Regarding the first option: If there is absence of some pieces and depending on the strength of these, through clinical and radiographic tests, you can opt for the placement of fixed prosthesis, that is to say those attachments (crowns) that are placed on top of the teeth, covering them in their totality, with the purpose of solving alterations in the shape, color and position, due to fractures of the enamel or caries or undesirable discolorations. This type of prosthesis requires the preparation of the adjacent teeth to rehabilitate the teeth that have been lost. In this type of prosthesis, there are various types of materials, which have their specific indications according to each individual case and the aesthetic requirements requested by the patient. If the gap to rehabilitate is wider or the remaining teeth have some kind of weakening (evaluated clinically and radiographically) the placement of fixed prosthesis is increasingly distant.

The possibility is the placement of removable prosthesis as a second option: the one that has to be removed after each food intake to perform the hygiene of the same and natural teeth. The removable prosthesis was formerly made with unsightly retainers or retainers, which diminished aesthetics especially if they had to be placed in the anterior sector.

The technological solution was the introduction of attachments or precision clips, which provide stability and retention to the prosthesis and of course superior comfort to the patient. These clips go inside the prosthesis, eliminating the placement of unsightly retainers, providing a naturalness comparable to that of crowns in the fixed prosthesis.

If the patient is reluctant to use this type of prosthesis either for reasons of comfort or does not want their teeth to be prepared, they have the possibility of implanting. The implant is a titanium attachment that is placed in the maxillary bone for the purpose of serving as an artificial root in an area where several teeth have been lost. For a certain purpose, one or more surgical phases are required and then the actual rehabilitation is performed with the aforementioned conventional prosthesis. The advantages of one over another: The prosthesis without implants does not require a surgical phase, it is more economical and is as aesthetic as the implant. Implants do not require a phase of preparation of adjacent teeth, the feeling of own teeth is more natural and is more effective (stable) in cases of total prosthesis (in total absence of teeth). In short, both are highly functional and aesthetic, with advantages and disadvantages, it is in your hands esteemed patient to opt for the most suitable proposal for you. It is necessary to inform yourself, going to the dental consultation so that this scope is deepened and has greater confidence before deciding on the type of treatment.

Oral Health and Harmony https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/salud-oral-y-armonia/ https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/salud-oral-y-armonia/#respond Fri, 04 May 2018 20:08:35 +0000 http://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/web2/?p=1868

The physical, emotional and spiritual well-being is based on several factors, but undoubtedly one of the most important is in health, a term very often used that means balance, absence of disease and health. It is logical to think that being well in body, we will have sufficient capacity to carry out our daily activities at work, at home, in the study and parallel activities to the life of human beings. When there is imbalance, the lack of enthusiasm, vitality, energy decrease radically. It is in this sense, that one of the pillars of our health, is the care of the Oral Cavity, a concept that in our population is sometimes left very aside, and that is why our population suffers from dental caries in approximately 98%

The discomfort caused by disorders of oral diseases, leads to a number of complications, very uncomfortable in most cases and fatal in some. What it does cause is a negative psychological impact, especially on the female sex.

It is at this level that information plays a very important role, giving the subject the opportunity to really know what happens with his body and specifically with his oral environment. The information will provide you with the necessary tools to form a conscience, a habit and most importantly, you will be offered a concept for your educational training.

The dissemination of such knowledge not only remain in it, but will be transmitted to family, friends and acquaintances and in turn will create an immense network of valuable knowledge for the care of this temple that is our body.

Smile happy! https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/sonrie-feliz/ https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/sonrie-feliz/#respond Fri, 04 May 2018 19:59:15 +0000 http://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/web2/?p=1863

The title of this article leads us to think about an infinity of moments and pleasant situations, current, future or that have already passed; Without a doubt one of the most direct and expressive manifestations of happiness, even more so if the inner being is about to experience the union with the person he loves the most.

In fact, in the act of smiling we express our inner joy that can be grasped by our most direct environment, but at the same time we show part of our dental structure, specifically the anterior sector, that is to say all those dental pieces that make it up, that is to say incisors (central and lateral) and canines. In that simple act, there can be an infinity of characteristics of these teeth, such as color, shape, consistency, texture, pigmentations, fractures, etc.

Fortunately, current dentistry allows corrections and modifications with the purpose of embellishing and characterizing a smile that has deterioration in any of the characteristics described above. For example, people who have the color of tooth enamel opaque or decreased in brightness, can again show a more pleasant smile, through whitening or dental bleaching. This is a totally conservative procedure, without any dental wear, which through the use of a gel, allows to obtain enamel clearance in approximately 2-3 shades. The aforementioned bleaching brings important benefits: the smile becomes more pleasant and the new color gives the individual more confidence when smiling. This procedure only performs whitening work in intact and healthy dental enamel, but what happens when there is the opposite of this reality?

By means of diverse highly aesthetic materials, teeth that lack harmony of color and shape, can change radically. For example, old seals (cures), which are losing color and brightness, can be replaced with photocurable resins, which are very reliable and offer diversity in their use and indication in dental cosmetics. If there are larger and anti-aesthetic fillings, or microfractures that are difficult to handle only with the replacement of resins, you can count on an indispensable material in current cosmetic dentistry: dental porcelain.

Teeth with severe alterations in brightness, surface, shape and color, can be modified substantially by means of porcelain veneers, which are facets of the so-called material that literally stick on the surface of the enamel that is visible to the naked eye, ie the previous sector. The technique is very safe and is extremely advantageous for the patient, because only very minimal wear of tooth structure is performed. In this way you can wear a new smile, whiter, brighter and more pleasing to the eye.

So far we have dedicated only to the previous sector, but what about the posterior sector, premolars and molars? The health and preservation of these pieces is essential to perform the masticatory act correctly and appropriately, the fact that they are not seen does not mean that they can be set aside. There are numerous pathologies and dental conditions that can cause unpleasant signs and symptoms. For example, the presence of dental caries forms cavities that, when left untreated, can manifest pain and unpleasant breath, a condition also known as halitosis, which provokes in the individual who suffers it, discomfort and lack of confidence when speaking to their interlocutor.

Likewise, the presence of calculus or dental calculus will cause inflammation and bleeding of the gums, dental sensitivity in some cases and in most cases halitosis, completely salvageable and correctable situations in the dental practice, which allow to have adequate and pleasant dental health and smile, respectively . On the other hand, old fillings such as corroded or anti-aesthetic amalgams can be replaced by materials that discreetly mask the dental structure, giving the individual greater naturalness.

In short, what is described is only part of what can be done in the science of dentistry, called to return the smile to people who require it in any situation…, CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Are milk teeth important? https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/los-dientes-de-leche-son-importantes/ https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/los-dientes-de-leche-son-importantes/#respond Fri, 04 May 2018 19:55:30 +0000 http://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/web2/?p=1860

I think that my son’s teeth are fine, as well as how he’s going to change he does not need as much dental care

The teeth in the human being begin to form from the intrauterine life and once their first teeth are born, the lower incisors erupt approximately at 5-6 months of life and culminate with the second molar approximately at 24-30 months of age. lifetime. This first dentition is called primary, milk or decidua.

The importance of the primary dentition and its conservation is fundamental to maintain a correct alignment that will serve as a bed for the next and last dentition, known as permanent.

The deciduous dentition is important because it guides the jaw to a centered and stable position in such a way that it allows the jaw bones to develop properly.

On the other hand it allows the successor (permanent) teeth to have adequate space to erupt and there is no crowding in the best of cases. Hence the importance of keeping milk teeth until tooth replacement occurs. The issue is that a piece of milk with caries very apart from the carious problem will generate alterations in the position of the bite if it is not treated in time.

If you get to lose any piece of milk you have to see how to preserve the lost space in such a way that there is no overtaking of the first lower molar and thus the space for the premolars is closed. The spaces left by the extractions can be preserved with the so-called space maintainers and if they are important to place them.

On the other hand, the control of caries in a child must be very neat and dedicated. By losing the front teeth not only aesthetics but also the function decreases, the tongue can be made space to enter the created space and thus deform the anterior part of the mouth only caused by the lingual pressure.

In short, dental checks on a child should ideally start as soon as his first tooth erupts and then check it every 6 months and then when 03-04 years is told how to brush and instruct the parents on the importance of teething milk.

Common procedures at this stage involve prophylaxis, sealants and fluoride topications to strengthen tooth enamel.

They extracted a tooth and then what? https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/me-extrajeron-una-muela-y-despues-que/ https://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/en/me-extrajeron-una-muela-y-despues-que/#respond Fri, 04 May 2018 18:51:14 +0000 http://www.clinicadentalreategui.com/web2/?p=1849

There are some situations in which the conservation of a tooth becomes critical.

Among the most common situations we have:

Dental caries, in most cases such destruction of the tooth occurs to the point that it involves deep tissues such as dentin and pulp, which causes infections and / or pulpal gangrene, in which any attempt at cure has no possibility of success.

Periodontal disease, or gum problems and support tissues. There are situations in which only support tissues are involved, causing micro infections with the consequent inflammation and redness. By not detecting the problem in time so sensitive gingival joints begin to open forming a gateway to food, which will become an excellent breeding ground for the surrounding bacteria. The final stage of the disease is manifested by the mobility of the tooth, which in turn causes more inflammation and pain.

Dental fractures, usually caused by accidents of varying degrees such as automobile, home or sports. But they can also be due to bad eating habits such as chewing ice, crushing sweets or harmful habits such as chewing or biting pencils. The fracture may involve small fragments of enamel to complete fractures of dental walls and in the worst case fractures at the root level, which have a poor prognosis.

In short, the loss of a tooth has to be replaced ideally at the end of healing, either by means of a fixed bridge or removable denture. In these times implantology provides very effective solutions for the rehabilitation of the smile, without involving neighboring pieces.
