What is Periodontics?

It is the specialty that is dedicated to the study of the support system of the dental system. The treatments to be considered are: Detection and elimination of calculus or dental calculus, prophylaxis, oral physiotherapy. Diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease.

The appearance of dental disease is due to a number of factors among which we have diet, age, eating habits and hygiene. This last factor is of fundamental importance since, in the absence of hygiene, certain bacteria will appear, which will affect the gum and the underlying tissues of the dental support.

The symptoms of periodontal disease are

  • Gums inflamed from a small redness to pain and greater discomfort in case of periodontitis.
  • Presence of bacterial plaque around the teeth.
  • Gingival retraction
  • Bad smell or halitosis.
  • Difference of heights of the teeth, unsightly inclinations or presence of rotations.
  • Dental mobility, at very mild onset or until the total loss of the tooth.
